Hop Against Homophobia and Transphobia - it's all about love! #HAHAT

 It's All About Love!

I'm Lori Toland and I want to thank you for stopping by. Education is the key when it comes to fight homophobia and transphobia. We can make a difference.

My dad is an amazing dude, but he hasn't always been understanding of what I write. It used to be that "gay stuff" and he never understood why I write what I do. After years of talking to him and being patient, he has come around now and he is proud of what I do and what I create. It's a huge change and it makes me really happy.

So if there is anyone who is homophobic or transphobic, don't shun them and cut them out of your life just because they are misinformed. Change their lives by educating them. Change their lives for the better. It won't happen over night, but like my dad, maybe, hopefully, they'll come around.

May 17th is International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia and you can check out all the details here:

Together, we can make a difference. It does get better.

Now for the fabulous contest! :) the prize is the complete Replacement Guitarist series in ebook! Yay!

Thanks for entering! Shayla Mist has won the blog hop here at Lori Toland's blog. Thanks to everyone who entered!

Chester Toland (2006-April 28th, 2014)

It's with a very heavy heart that I write this eulogy for a wonderful cat, Chester Toland. When he came to us with his little sister, he was a handful. They were both still teenage kitties with lots of bounce and love to give. The first time my hubby saw Chester, he strolled up the driveway complaining about his food bowl being empty and my husband was in love.

Milly and Chester were a birthday present to myself, one that kept giving with love and devotion. We hated to vacation and opted to stay at home with them to relax and cuddle, because their healing purr always made anything better.

Last year, we found out Chester was FIV+ but it didn't slow him down. He still pounced on his little sister with all the ferociousness he always had. While we had a few scares, he still carried on with dignity and grace through it all. He never let on that he was in pain and even when we got the news, Chester had hopped on the bench next to me. Before the vet came in, he sat beside me and put his paws on my leg, as if to say, "It'll be okay, Mum." I take those moments with me now.

A few years ago, I'd read that in order to promote your brand as an author, you should blog about your passion and what you know. I figured I could blog about being a CEO and being in charge but that would get boring after a while (blah, I preach enough at work) but something that brings me great joy is my cats. I already had over a thousand pictures of them so why not share?

Once a week sharing pics became an extravaganza of adoration. I would upload them and feel pure joy every time.

This last picture shows how much he adored me and his dad. He was lovey like this with everyone, even the vets who gave him a shot in the bum. Except little sister, because she always reminded him that he was full of poop. :)

Yesterday, Chester received his angel wings and I asked him to say hi to everyone we've lost. I'm sure they will take care of him and he will give them the love we received from him for these eight brilliant years.

We love you, baby boy. Milly, Daddy and I will take good care of each other.

(ETA) You can also click on the tag Cats to be taken to all the posts about my babies.

Update on Chester's illness and recovery

If you follow me on Facebook, then you know we had a drama over Christmas. If you don't follow me there, I'll update you quickly.

On Christmas Eve, Chester got sick with what I thought was a hairball. Now, my mommacat sensors went off because Chester doesn't get hairballs; Milly does. But I cleaned it up and went to bed. When we woke up Christmas day, Chester seemed fine so we took off for Christmas dinner. We got back late that night and Chester seemed okay but when we fed him, he didn't keep it down though he wasn't lethargic and he went back to eating and kept that down. It was really weird.

We kept an eye on him and he got in bed with us. The next morning, he seemed okay again but couldn't keep dinner down so hubby called Paws Around Town, who said they would stop by around noon. I'm so glad he did because by the time they got there, Chester was lethargic.

After three shots in the bum and some medication that I can't seem to give to Chester under any circumstances (he even laughs when he sees the pill pockets) Chester has been stoned on meclizine since Christmas. He's recovering very well and Hubby and I finally slept through the night comfortably last night :)

But like any good cat parent, I took pictures of Chester while stoned. So here is a pictorial of the Chester's recovery:

After his shots, Chester rested quietly in my lap while I shopped at Loose Id's After Christmas sale.
Notice that Milly was very close by. This was how they were all day.

Mom, I haven't forgiven you for the shot in the bum.

That moment when you realize you ate the high calorie cat paste and it tasted goooooooood.

I totally forgot where I am.

Milly watching over lil bro.

Thanks Mom and Dad for watching over me.
But please, stop watching me use the sandbox.
It's sort of embarrassing.

Huge thanks to everyone who prayed for Chester and sent good wishes his way. He's recovering very well now!

Coming Soon! All new blog for Lori!

To start 2014 off with a bang, I've decided to revamp my blogger a little as a place not only to share pics of my cats (and other links I might find) but to also share my story of cancer and lupus.

All throughout this crazy journey of writing a book and learning the ropes of this industry, it's sometimes easy to get caught up in the daily trials and tribulations of the ever changing landscape in publishing. When I started this, I just wanted to write some hot romance and enjoy myself. But recently I've been told my journey in fighting lupus has inspired people.

That's sort of a trip! I'll keep sharing my story, though sometimes I don't even know what to think about that.

So here is my Mission Statement: I plan to bring you the hottest erotic romance I can dream up. My ideas are constantly changing and evolving so who knows what I'll think of next! :)

What else will be here: I'm a proud cat parent so I'll be sharing lots more pictures of Milly and Chester. I'll try to post them once a week on Monday, so you can start your week off right. I'll also bring you a bird's eye view of what it is like to fight lupus.

For those of you who celebrate it, have a very Happy Christmas! And to everyone... here's to an awesome new year. We fucking deserve it!!
